2017 Jeep Wrangler Tops the Cars.com American-Made Index

Head outside the city of Helena in any direction, and you'll find steep mountains, muddy backroads, and windswept fields waiting to be blanketed in ice and snow throughout the long winter. There are few vehicles that make you feel more secure and confident in these conditions than the Jeep Wrangler. It's almost like it was purpose-built for Montana roads.

The Jeep Wrangler is suited for American driving needs because it's built right here in the United States, in Toledo, Ohio to be precise. According to Cars.com, 74 percent of its components—including engines and most transmissions—are sourced domestically. And while its sales numbers may not compare with higher-volume models, each individual sale supports more American workers than almost any other model.

For these reasons, Cars.com ranked the 2017 Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited number-one on the annual American-Made Index.

Cars.com executive editor Joe Wiesenfelder praised the iconic SUV for living up to its heritage:

"As a descendant of the military Jeep that helped the Allies win World War II, the Jeep Wrangler already has strong American credentials. In Cars.com’s 2017 American Made Index, the Wrangler’s American roots prove as deep as its image. The SUV has long been a Cars.com favorite for off-roaders and sun-lovers."
